Race Track
Chaplaincy of America,
Pennsylvania
Division
On Thursday May 22, the Race Track Chaplains of the North East Area gathered together at Penn National Race Track in Harrisburg Pennsylvania. Attending the meeting were
Jack Cordell: Chaplain at Philadelphia Park Race Track, PA
James Watson and his wife Becky: Chaplain at Belmont Park & Saratoga, New York
Charles Patane: Host & Chaplain at Penn National Race Track, PA
Tim Shaw: Penn National Council President
Dago and his wife Eliana Dupuy: Chaplain at Laurel Park, Maryland
Rose Salios: Regional RTCA Representative
Rev. Nick Salios: Eastern RTCA Field Representative
The morning began with a short tour of the back side of the track lead by our
host, Charles Patane. Charles shared information about the current
ministries going on at Penn National. The group had a chance to see the
room Charles uses for Bible Study, Worship and other Track Ministry
Events. Besides time spent helping people maintain their spiritual health,
Charles has worked hard to help with physical well being. Currently there
is a doctor who comes once a week to the track and works out of the
Jeanette Johnston Medical Clinic. Charles helps to coordinate appointments
so the track workers can get the medical attention they need. Also an
athletic field that had been ignored for over ten years has been renovated,
giving opportunity for people to play softball, basketball and soccer. The
field has become a regular meeting place for friendly competition and
fellowship. Following the tour the group gathered in the Race Track
Directors Room for a delicious lunch.
During lunch their was time to discuss the on-going ministries occurring at the various race tracks. Chaplain Jack Cordell and Rose Salios reported on the recent RTCA National Conference. Rev. Nick Salios shared information from RCTA's National Board. Beside fellowship & discussion, the group spend time praying for the needs of one another, chaplains at other tracks and the chaplaincy programs through out the country.
